stone-walled mansion, built over the foundations of the ancient

The
Cerchi family lived in Castel d'Acone for several generations
in the twelfth century, before moving to Florence. The chapel,
which is still in existence, is dedicated to Blessed Emiliana
dei Cerchi, whose mortal remais lie in the church of Santa Croce
in Florence. The memory of the powerful feudal dynasty of the
Cerchi still hangs in the air. |
